Temp/Permanent IT Coodinator

Job Description: The IT Manager has overall responsibility for managing the IT department and the role of technology in the organization’s internal and external activities.  This work includes systems development, maintenance of a Windows 2003-based network, policy and strategic planning, website and database management, budgeting, office technology upkeep, and management of consultants to create technology plans, policies, and strategies. 

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure healthy systems operation, including the network, the servers/routers/switches, cabling, workstations, hardware and software maintenance and upkeep, security, virus protection, data backup and training;
  2. Budget, generate, and approve technology plans, policies, and strategies;
  3. Ensure IT operates in step with mission, vision and strategic plan;
  4. Design, maintain, and review IT policy;
  5. Assist in resource development for IT projects, both monetary and in-kind;
  6. Make final decisions for hardware and software standards;
  7. Manage all IT projects;
  8. Work with staff to develop and maintain database with capacity to collect demographic, biographical and evaluation data;
  9. Work with staff to develop website capabilities, implement new functionality, design and upkeep websites and implement web-based data exchange;
  10. Work with staff to support voicemail system, phones, workstations, fax, copy machines and other information management systems as needed;
  11. Provide technical assistance to Greater DC Cares staff ;
  12. Ensure preventative maintenance to the system occurs on a regular basis;
  13. Provide orientation and training to Greater DC Cares staff in software applications and procedures, as needed;
  14. Provide technical assistance with organization-special events as needed.

Qualifications

  1. B.S. or B.A. in Information Technology, Computer Programming, Information Systems Management, or related field.
  2. Strong interest and experience in the use of technology in organizational effectiveness and expansion;
  3. Experience in the maintenance and operation of Windows-based LANs (NT and 2000/2003)
  4. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and Remote Installation Services
  5. Experience in HTML, Linux, Apache, IIS, mySQL, SQL, PHP
  6. Experience in web/design applications such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  7. Java and C# programming is beneficial but not required. 
  8. Solid understanding of Microsoft Office and other applications;
  9. Strong problem-solving skills for both hardware and software related issues.
  10. Entrepreneurial attitude, self-motivated, multi-tasking and committed to meeting deadlines.
  11. Expertise in decision-making around technology;
  12. Understanding of technology’s role in the implementation of the strategic plan;
  13. Ability to integrate technology into all areas of organization and consider role of technology across all department lines;
  14. Proven planning and management skills;
  15. Excellent communication skills, written and oral

EPR VISTA Program Associate

Job Descripion: The AmeriCorps*VISTA Member for Emergency Preparedness and Response will complement and build upon current efforts in disaster preparedness.

The VISTA Member will:

  • Conduct volunteer recruitment and outreach activities around emergency preparedness and response, particularly targeting those areas most impacted by poverty.
  • Update and implement plan for managing unaffiliated and spontaneous volunteers during a disaster.
  • Provide training and other technical assistance around spontaneous volunteer management to nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
  • Recruit, train, and deploy emergency preparedness and response volunteer leaders.
  • Manage the deployment of all emergency preparedness and response volunteers.
  • Consistently update Greater DC Cares emergency response plan, and continuity of operations plan and train staff on each plan.
  • Support efforts to maintain existing and build new relationships with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other constituencies.

Skill and Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Community networking experience
  • Competency in basic software programs (Microsoft Office)
  • Bachelor’s degree or three years of related volunteer/job experience preferred
  • Training experience helpful

EPR VISTA Client Services Associate

Job Descripion: The Emergency Preparedness and Response: Client Services Associate is responsible for identifying and recruiting potential constituents of Greater DC Cares’ emergency preparedness and response efforts. This VISTA Member will report to the Director of Programs and will be responsible for:

  • Conducting outreach to potential constituents
  • Assessing constituent needs and assets on a regular basis
  • Tracking constituent relationships to ensure they are being managed and their needs are being met
  • Developing and implementing trainings that build our constituents capacity to integrate non-monetary assets in their long-term plans
  • Evaluating our cumulative annual impact on our constituents capacity, impact and satisfaction
  • Developing and managing the online resource center program for non-monetary assets

Skill and Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Community networking experience
  • Competency in basic software programs (Microsoft Office)
  • Bachelor’s degree or three years of related volunteer/job experience preferred
  • Training experience helpful

EPR VISTA Non-monetary Asset and Services Associate

Job Descripion: The Non-monetary Asset and Services Associate is responsible for securing in-kind goods and services for the emergency preparedness and response efforts of Greater DC Cares and our nonprofit partners. This Associate will report to the President and will be responsible for:

  • Assessing Greater DC Cares’ needs for volunteers, in-kind goods, and services;
  • Building the capacity of the staff to manage volunteers internally;
  • Securing services and goods from businesses for Greater DC Cares as well as for other nonprofits;
  • Evaluating the organizations use of in-kind goods and services and the impact they have.

  • Community networking experience
  • Competency in basic software programs (Microsoft Office)
