Support Greater DC Cares!

We invite your organization to get extra help for your programs and services. We offer a range of opportunities for volunteers to help your organization on a flexible schedule.

Monthly Volunteering. We currently offer more than 70 high-impact volunteer projects each month at nonprofits and schools across the region. Volunteers don’t need any special skills – just time, energy and an interest in your issues.

Many activities repeat every month; they may also take place several times each month. Some projects are occasional. Individuals can volunteer on their own or come with their families, depending on your needs.

Types of projects. Volunteers provide a wide variety of services as part of this program:

  • work with people in group homes
  • help children with disabilities play sports
  • deliver meals to people with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses
  • clean a park
  • plant trees
  • provide companionship to elderly citizen

.. and much more -- whatever supports your mission!

Special Events. There are several events you can take advantage of.

Business Shares. Businesses often want to provide opportunities for their volunteers to help nonprofits in our communities. Greater DC Cares can organize projects to help you with large or cumbersome facilities maintenance projects. We can provide groups as small as ten people or as large as 1,000 employees from a single business.

  • Servathon. Once a year, thousands of volunteers work at nonprofits throughout our region. For two amazing days, individual and businessvolunteers help by painting schools, building computer labs, building a playground, serving food, launching websites or cleaning parks.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday of Service. Each year, Greater DC Cares holds a range of events designed to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the role of community service as a valuable tool for social justice and community change.

Become a partner today! To have your organization’s project included as part of our monthly schedule or as a special event, you must be a Greater DC Cares nonprofit partner. Sign up NOW for orientation.
