Interstages Inc. is an after-school program that provides low-income, middle-school girls in Washington, DC with lessons in music, history and self-esteem, and also offers one-on-one academic help. Noel Tieszen and Herb Scott, former teachers, founded the organization in 2005. In its first two years, through Greater DC Cares, Interstages was able to engage:
