To support the ongoing needs of nonprofits like yours in our region, Greater DC Cares’ Web site provides a Volunteer Classifieds section that allows volunteers to connect directly with your organization.

How it works. If you would like to have volunteers staff specific events or work with your nonprofit on an ongoing basis, we will list your request on our Web site. Interested volunteers will contact your organization directly.

Greater DC Cares will run your ad requesting volunteers for ongoing projects for up to two to three months based on space availability.

1-800-Volunteer - Greater DC Cares has joined the 1-800-volunteer.org network in order to provide nonprofits with additional ways to recruit and manage volunteers. To sign up to be a part of Greater DC Cares’ network, follow these simple steps:

1. Click here to sign up for a 1-800-volunteer account.
2. Enter your Zip Code and make sure that ‘Surrounding Area’ is selected for the Distance option and click on ‘Search’
3. Select ‘Greater DC Cares’ as your local volunteer center (you will be able to post opportunities across the region, including MD and VA)
4. Enter the rest of the necessary information to register, and begin posting opportunities!

Please note: Volunteer classifieds are available to anyone who views our web site and opportunities listed on 1-800-volunteer are available to anyone who visits that site, but we cannot guarantee volunteers for any particular project or event. 

To post a classified ad, your organization will need to provide proof of its 501(c)(3) status. Ads cannot be placed for activities that would engage volunteers in direct religious proselytizing initiatives or politically partisan activities.
