Our Program Staff is expert at developing projects that combine the assets and the needs of all of our clients (business, volunteer and nonprofit.) They provide project management and ensure that all of our efforts have real impact in the community. - Flexible Volunteering
- One-time, hands-on volunteer projects in the evenings and on weekends with activities such as food delivery, painting, landscaping, park clean-ups etc.
- Pro-Bono Consulting
- Skilled volunteering in financial management; technology; organizational development; communications/marketing; human resource management; and fundraising.
- COMPASS
- MBA alumni of Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, and Tuck and University of Chicago working on pro bono consulting projects together
- Executive Service Corps
- Pro-bono consulting engaging active and retired private-sector executives
- Board Leadership Program
- Training and placing corporate executives for service on nonprofit boards
- Training nonprofit leaders on how to develop mission-driven board processes
- Adopt-a-School
- Connecting local companies and their employees to help improve the DC Public School System
- Community Tool Chest
- A tool lending library for nonprofits
- Citizen Academy
- Quarterly meetings in which volunteers meet nonprofit leaders to discuss issues facing our region and how volunteer action can help address them
- Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Training and connecting volunteers to nonprofits that respond to emergencies
- Donations of Goods and Services
- Connecting gently used goods and free services from the private sector to the needs of nonprofits
- Tutor/Mentor Referral Service
- Connecting volunteers to local tutoring programs (projects not managed by GDCC)

Greater DC Cares’ Service Groups manage long-term relationships with clients – nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and businesses – on an ongoing basis. We assess their needs/goals; provide a return on investment; provide tailored trainings for each client group; and evaluate our cumulative annual impact on our clients’ capacity and satisfaction.
