At Greater DC Cares, our commitment isn’t just to one project at a time. We want to be your partner in civic engagement and help you grow.

Train to lead a project. As a volunteer, Greater DC Cares provides you with several opportunities to gain valuable leadership experience. For example, you can learn how to recruit volunteers, coordinate a project, manage volunteers and evaluate the project’s success. We offer project training to help prepare you for the roles below:

• Project Coordinator for our monthly flexible volunteering projects.
• Project Leaders and Managers during Servathon — our annual marathon days of service.

Train to be an emergency response volunteer leader. We offer training for:

• Volunteer Leaders for our Emergency Preparedness and Response Program.

Citizen Academy. As a volunteer, you can become a true champion for causes you’re passionate about. Participate in our Citizen Academy workshops to learn more about a variety of issues, from affordable housing to healthcare to national and local civic engagement.
