It’s important for nonprofits and schools to have safe, vibrant and professional spaces in which to work and learn. Greater DC Cares can help! We provide volunteers to help you upgrade and beautify your facilities.

How it works. We can provide your organization with volunteers through three programs and events.

Business Shares — As part of their philanthropic programs, businesses are often interested in providing community service opportunities for their employees. Greater DC Cares can organize projects for groups of volunteers to help you with large or cumbersome facilities maintenance projects. We can provide for groups as small as 10 people or as large as 1,000 employees from a single business – whatever fits your needs.

• Servathon — Once a year, thousands of individual and business volunteers work at nonprofits throughout our region. For two amazing days in May, volunteers paint schools,landscape community centers, build playgrounds, serve food, clean parks, plant trees or build computer labs.

• Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday of Service — Each year, Greater DC Cares holds a range of events to help nonprofits. The events are designed to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the role of community service as a valuable tool for social justice and community change.
